Beijing International Students and Scholars

　　Beijing government has established the “Scholarship for Beijing International Students and Scholars”, with the purpose to attract more excellent and distinguished students and scholars to come to Beijing to study, to receive advanced study or to do research, and to develop more people friendly to China and Beijing. It will have profound impact on the social, political, economic, cultural and educational construction of Beijing, on the expansion of Beijing political influence, on the image building of Beijing as an international metropolitan city, and on the improvement of the core competitiveness of Beijing, etc..

　　University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) stands by the tenet of “Scholarship for Beijing International Students and Scholars”, and particularly sets down the detailed rules about the evaluation for the implementation of the scholarship in consideration of the strategic plan of our university to entirely improve the education of the international students studying in our university.

　　I Principle of evaluation

　　The evaluation of “Scholarship for Beijing International Students and Scholars” shall be strictly in accordance with the principle of openness, fairness and justice, and shall consider the following elements:

　　1. While all the scholarship will be used as the tuition of the international students studying for diploma, the graduate education will be given preference;

　　2. While developing the graduate education, a certain preference will be given to the students from the world famous universities;

　　3. To encourage the present excellent students to further their study in our university, part of the financial aid will be used to help excellent undergraduates to further their study for graduate degree admitted without examination, and to help excellent graduates to further their study for doctoral degree admitted without examination;

　　4. Based on the principle of reward and encouragement, the students who have been rewarded the “Scholarship for Beijing International Students and Scholars” last year will go through an annual evaluation to determine whether he/she still has the status to enjoy the scholarship.

　　II Institutions of evaluation

　　1. The scholarship evaluation committee will be composed of leaders from School of International Education UIBE, Office of Academic Affairs, and Department of Graduate Studies as well as the leaders in charge of the international education from different colleges or departments;

　　2. The School of International Education UIBE will be in charge of the organization and management of the scholarship evaluation;

　　3. Each college or department will be specifically responsible for the recommendation and application of the excellent students “admitted without examination” of its college or department;

　　4. The School of International Education UIBE will be in charge of dealing with the scholarship application of the newly-admitted graduate or doctors;

　　5. The scholarship evaluation committee will make decision and announce the names of international students who will be rewarded the scholarship in the end.

　　III Types of scholarship

　　1 Scholarship for new graduate

　　Conditions: The international students who have participated in the examination for graduate or doctor of our university and are excellent and righteous as well as have high capacity in social activities and outstanding scientific findings are qualified to apply for the “Scholarship for Beijing International Students and Scholars” of University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), but the age of the applicant shall not be over 45.

　　2 Scholarship for graduate admitted without examination

　　Condition: the fresh undergraduates and graduates graduated from our university who are excellent and righteous and willing to further their study for a higher degree can apply for the “Scholarship for Beijing International Students and Scholars” of University of International Business and Economics (UIBE).

　　Whoever has the following behaviors shall not apply for the “Scholarship for Beijing International Students and Scholars”:

　　Violate the laws and rules of People’s Republic of China;

　　Disobey the school rules and regulations of University of International Business and Economics (UIBE);

　　Go against the social moralities and have bad influences.

　　IV Criteria of Scholarship

　　1 Full scholarship of the “Scholarship for Beijing International Students and Scholars”

　　According to the tuition standard of our university, the tuition of one year will be exempted (excluding the registration fee, textbook fee, housing charge, accommodation/food expense, medical insurance fee and traffic expense).

　　2 Part scholarship of the “Scholarship for Beijing International Students and Scholars”

　　According to the tuition standard of our university, part of the tuition of one year will be exempted (excluding the registration fee, textbook fee, housing charge, accommodation/food expense, medical insurance fee and traffic expense).

　　V Object of evaluation

　　1. The international students who have participated in the graduate and doctor examination of University of International Business and Economics (UIBE);

　　2. The fresh undergraduates studying for graduate degree admitted without examination and the fresh graduate studying for doctor degree admitted without examination of our university.

　　The international students who have been rewarded the government scholarship of China and the scholarship of their own country and those who suspend schooling or are ordered to suspend schooling will not be included in the evaluation.

　　VI Materials for evaluation

　　1 Application Form of University of International Business and Economics Scholarship for Beijing International Students and Scholars;

　　2 The verified certificate of education of the highest level and the Transcript of Study Records;

　　3 The applicant who is rewarded for his/her scientific findings shall provide the dissertation and the original certificate;

　　4 Two Letters of Recommendation written by two professors or assistant professors from relevant universities;

　　5 Study plan (no less than 400 words) or research plan (no less than 800 words) provided by the applicant.

　　VI Application approaches and application time

　　1 Application approaches

　　(1) International students can provide application for this scholarship to School of International Education UIBE through the government offices in charge of dispatching overseas students of their own countries;

　　(2) International students can provide application to our university through Embassy of P. R. China;

　　(3) The international students who have already studied in Beijing or in our university can directly apply for the scholarship from School of International Education UIBE or relevant department or college.

　　2 Application Time

　　All application materials must be submitted to School of International Education UIBE three months ahead of the time of enrollment.

　　VII Evaluation Procedure

　　1 The student shall provide an application in written form according to the application conditions and criteria of different types of scholarship; the students who are admitted without examination can provide application for the scholarship to their own department or college, while the new graduate and doctor of international students can provide application for the scholarship to the School of International Education UIBE;

　　2 Each department or college will make an evaluation about the student who has provided the application, and will report the names of candidates and relevant materials to School of International Education UIBE within a prescribed period;

　　3 The evaluation committee composed of the leaders from School of International Education UIBE, Office of Academic Affairs, and Department of Graduate Studies and persons in charge from relevant department or college will have another evaluation about the candidates and make an initial decision about the persons who will be rewarded the scholarship;

　　4 The School of International Education UIBE will deliver the opinions of the evaluation committee to different department or college, and meanwhile make a decision about the students who will be rewarded the scholarship.

　　VIII Annual Evaluation

　　The present international students who have been rewarded the “Scholarship for Beijing International Students and Scholars” of the last year will go through an annual evaluation. Only those who have pass the annual evaluation can continue to enjoy the “Scholarship for Beijing International Students and Scholars” to study in our university.
